The work of the Department of Kinesiology of Sports Games and Theory of Sport is based on transdisciplinary principles, as kinesiology is a scientific field dominated by an experimental approach to the comprehensive study of the principles and laws of human movement, physical activity, and exercise.
Furthermore, the Department’s work is focused on the kinesiological characteristics of sports activities, the basic and specific characteristics of athletes of different ages and performance levels, issues related to transformation processes, and the analysis of effects achieved through the application of appropriate training procedures specific to each sport. It also focuses on the development of basic and specific motor abilities, motor skills, and programme contents of individual sports.
Within the structure of kinesiological activities, sports games belong to polystructural complex activities. Sports games may be classified as invasion games, net or wall games, striking and fielding games, and target games.
The Department includes the Chair of Sports Games (Head: Assistant Professor Ante Rađa, PhD) and the Chair of Theory of Sport and Kinesiological Transformations (Head: Associate Professor Josefina Đuzel, PhD).
The Chair of Sports Games includes compulsory courses such as Theory and Methodology of Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Football, and Water Polo, elective courses such as Beach Volleyball, Mini Handball, Baseball, Rugby, and Futsal, as well as elective modules in Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, and Football.
The Chair of Theory of Sport and Kinesiological Transformations includes compulsory courses such as Theory of Training, OKT 1, and OKT 2, as well as the elective module Strength and Conditioning Training.
