Doctoral study

Study programmes
Study programme...

The study lasts three years (six semesters), during which the student accumulates a minimum of 180 ECTS credits. Any extracurricular courses are conducted exclusively during the first two semesters in the first research year. In principle, the three years of study are dedicated solely to scientific research and dissertation preparation. The 180 ECTS credits are earned through activities (see Chart 1) in addition to original scientific research, culminating in the creation and defense of a doctoral dissertation.

The entire doctoral program consists of the following categories and activities:

  • Scientific schools
  • Scientific congresses
  • Scientific papers
  • Mentor reports

After successfully completing tasks in all the listed categories (activities), the student proceeds to defend their doctoral dissertation. As part of the doctoral dissertation, the doctoral candidate proposes papers published in journals indexed in WoS/SCOPUS, which must account for at least 50 ECTS credits and be exclusively in publications with a CiteScore (according to SCOPUS) or Impact Factor (according to WoS).

Upon completion of the study and successful defense of the dissertation, the academic degree of Doctor of Social Sciences in the field of Kinesiology is awarded.
