Opportunities for Further Studies
A student who completes this study program can continue their education at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Split, pursuing a graduate university program or one of the four specialized professional graduate programs. At the eighth level of the Croatian Qualifications Framework (CROQF), they can continue with a postgraduate doctoral study in kinesiology.
The undergraduate university study program in kinesiology is enrolled after completing high school.
Conditions and Mode of Study
The undergraduate study in kinesiology is conducted over three academic years. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, or four quarters. In each semester, a student typically enrolls in 30 ECTS credits, amounting to 60 ECTS credits in one academic year. A student completes this study by accumulating all 180 ECTS credits and defending a final thesis.
In the first and second academic years, students attend and pass only mandatory courses. Upon enrollment in the third year, students choose one elective specialization. The offered specializations include certain sports, recreation and fitness, conditioning of athletes, personal training, and kinesitherapy.
Upon completion of the study, the student acquires the academic title of university bachelor of kinesiology (univ. bacc. cin.).
Teaching Methods in the Study Program
Teaching in the study program is generally conducted through lectures (groups of up to 150 students), seminars (groups of up to 36 students), kinesiology exercises (groups of up to 18 students), laboratory exercises (groups of up to 12 students) for subjects in the field of biomedical sciences, field exercises (groups of up to 12 students) for certain sports subjects (Skiing, Water Sports) and recreation subjects, and methodical exercises (groups of up to 10 students) for the subjects Kinesiology Methodology 1 and 2, and Basics of Kinesiology Methodology.
System of Counseling and Guidance Through the Study
Students of each academic year, at the beginning of the academic year, elect two student representatives. The Faculty Council appoints a Year Head from among the faculty and staff employed at the Faculty. Additionally, students are organized and have the Student Council of the Faculty of Kinesiology in Split (KIFST), which has five representatives in the Faculty Council. Support is available to them through the Student Service, which is open every working day from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM for student inquiries. Heads of departments, the Vice-Dean for Teaching and Students, and all faculty members are available to students for guidance and support throughout their studies.
